Carlos Leandro (Calê) is a Senior Data Science Analyst in the Forests, Land Use, and Agriculture Program at WRI Brasil, focusing on the management of the Atlantic Forest and Caatinga biomes.

Before joining WRI Brasil, he worked as a Geoprocessing Coordinator at the International Institute for Sustainability (IIS) and served as a professor teaching Topics in Remote Sensing Applied to Sustainability for the Professional Master’s Program in Sustainability Science at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RJ).

Carlos holds a degree in Biology from the State University of Northern Rio de Janeiro Darcy Ribeiro, a master’s degree in Ecology from the National Institute for Amazonian Research, and a Ph.D. in Remote Sensing from the National Institute for Space Research. He has extensive experience working with primates before specializing in geospatial analysis.

In his free time, Calê enjoys playing alfaia in music groups and street bands, drawing, and cooking.
