Bio

Alain is WRI’s Outreach and Training Coordinator. Based in the Democratic Republic of Congo, his work focuses on supporting training for government, civil society, and researchers on use of WRI’s information tools including Global Forest Watch and the DRC Forest Atlas platform.

Prior to joining WRI in 2016 as Coordinator, he was CEO of the National Forest Fund In which it deals with the taxation of reforestation. He has also worked in the cabinets of various environment ministers as a legal expert. Alain holds a Bachelor's Degree in law from the University of Ottawa.

Most of the tree cover loss in our sample concession occurred in areas where, using clues from the ground, we can conclude it wasn't illegal deforestation. That doesn't mean it doesn't happen.
