Assessment of Estuarine Trophic Status (ASSETS)
ASSETS is a searchable database built in cooperation between NOAA and IMAR. ASSETS builds on the U.S. National Estuarine Eutrophication Assessment (NEEA) developed by NOAA. All users have access to information about the approach used in ASSETS, and to the results obtained for the various estuaries. Additionally, there is an area for data input which is restricted to authorized users.
Enclosed Coastal Seas Information Clearinghouse
This Clearinghouse is an online information search engine for issues concerning the enclosed coastal seas. It has been designed, co-ordinated and operated by the International EMECS Centre with the financial assistance by the Ministry of the Environmentof Japan. Users can retrieve various information such as water quality, costal and marine ecosystems, landscape, maritime history and culture as well as environmental guidebook on the enclosed coastal seas from the websites covering 21 enclosed coastal sea areas around the world.

Global Environment Monitoring System
GEMStat is designed to share surface and ground water quality data sets collected from the GEMS/Water Global Network, including over 1,400 stations, two million records, and over 100 parameters.

GIWA publishes comprehensive and integrated assessment reports of international waters for many regions around the world.
Harmful Algae Event Database
The Harmful Algal Information System, HAIS, will when fully established consist of access to information on harmful algal events, harmful algae monitoring and management systems worldwide, current use of taxonomic names of harmful algae, and information on biogeography of harmful algal species. Supplementary components are an expert directory and a bibliography. The database is currently in the testing phase and requires a login. However, you can access maps and bibliography information from this site without a login.
International Lake Environment Committee (ILEC)
ILEC’s objective is to promote the sustainable use and conservation of lakes and reservoirs worldwide to a series of different strategies. The website offers access to a series of publications and a wide-range of link to associated organizations/institutions. Additionally, the World Lake Database providing environmental and socio-economic data of important lakes and reservoirs worldwide is accessible through the webpage.
International Oceanographic Data and Information Exchange (IODE)
IODE is a branch of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) in charge of collecting, managing, and promoting the exchange of oceanographic data. Here, types of data include metadata, products and information in real-time, near real time and delayed mode. The website provides links to several organizations and their respective datasets of oceanographic parameters.
Large Marine Ecosystems of the World (LME)
The Large Marine Ecosystem (LME) concept or approach established by NOAA divides the world’s oceans in regions with homogeneous eco-physical (e.g. bathymetry, productivity, etc) rather than economical/political characteristics. Accordingly, the LME approach is ecosystem-based and seeks to monitor change in each region in order to take remedial actions geared towards the recovery and sustainable management of marine goods and services. The website provides general information on the concept, the different geographical regions established, reports/publications, as well as GIS data and a number of digital maps.
NASA Earth Observatory NASA’s Earth Observatory collection includes satellite imagery of the planet and global thematic maps in conjunction with relevant datasets (e.g. chlorophyll, sea surface temperature, rainfall, etc).
Seagrassnet is a global seagrass monitoring network. Participants are responsible for monitoring the status of seagrass communities at designated sites (c. 110 in 30 countries) in addition to sampling, recording and analyzing a number of environmental parameters. The website provides access to information on research sites, reports, and access to the global seagrassNET database enabling the user to upload and retrieve information from each site.
United Nations Environment Programme/World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC
UNEP-WCMC is a partnership that aims to provide synthesis, analyses and dissemination of biodiversity knowledge on a global scale. One of its main is goal is to make biodiversity information accessible to countries, organizations, conventions and companies involved in policy implementation and decision making. UNEP-WCMC has a Marine Assessment and Support Programme addressing marine and coastal biodiversity issues globally. The website provides a wealth of information and data ranging from publications/reports, global information on protected areas, global biodiversity atlas, interactive maps, worldwide habitats, international policy, etc. There is an emphasis on data from coastal/marine ecosystems, including seagrass, mangrove, and coral communities as well as region-specific data (e.g. Caspian, Caribbean, etc).

The website provides access to the sub-regional forecasting and observing system of the Eastern Mediterranean Levantine Basin. Access is available to forecasts of different meteorological and physico-chemical parameters across the regional sea and/or the entire Mediterranean and Black Sea.

European Global Ocean Observing System (EuroGOOS)
EuroGOOS is an association of governmental agencies and research organizations working with European-scale operational oceanography in conjunction with the intergovernmental Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS). Besides providing general information and publications on the EuroGOOS programme, the website also provides links to several member (regional) agencies of EuroGOOS (listed in this section). These agencies provide regional nowcasts/forecasts, oceanographic databases, and bathymetric maps of relevance to those involved with study/management of coastal systems.
