PESE case studies

PESE is a partnership among companies and environmental sustainability organizations to demonstrate the business benefits of ecosystem services in Brazil. By making the connection between healthy ecosystems and the bottom line, PESE not only fosters more sustainable business practices, but also opens the door to new, profitable business opportunities.

Since May 2012, PESE companies participated in a training program focused on how to use the Corporate Ecosystem Services Review (ESR). The ESR is an innovative assessment method that starts with analyzing a company’s dependence and impact on ecosystem services, and ends with developing actionable business strategies to secure and improve the provision of ecosystem services.

The PESE companies implemented the ESR at their companies, with assistance from CEBDS and Gvces. These companies are the first to apply the ESR in Brazil. The case studies below detail the experiences and results of several PESE companies’ ESRs.
