WASHINGTON (October 12, 2022) - On October 18th at 8:30am ET/2:30pm CEST World Resources institute (WRI) and the ACT2025 consortium – a coalition amplifying the voices of vulnerable countries in the negotiations – will host a press call to preview expectations for a just and ambitious outcome at the UN climate summit in Egypt this November.

COP27 is taking place amid soaring energy and food prices and climate disasters – such as scorching heat waves, roaring wildfires and epic floods – which are imposing a terrible toll on people around the world. These interlinked crises underscore the urgent need for countries to work together at COP27 and help tackle the consequences from rising global temperatures that are falling disproportionately on developing countries and ensure affordable, clean energy for all.

WHAT

ACT2025 partners from vulnerable nations such as Bangladesh, the Caribbean, Colombia, Nigeria, Kenya and the Philippines will offer a united vision for success at COP27, including addressing loss and damage, scaling up support for adaptation action, strengthening climate targets and assuring climate finance promises will be met. Experts will also explore the challenging geopolitical backdrop and the major fault lines to watch out for.

The press call will be hosted in English with simultaneous interpretation in Spanish, French and Chinese.
