ADVISORY: Press Teleconference on Expectations For Climate and Energy Issues During Modi-Obama Visit
WASHINGTON (JUNE 1, 2016)— Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits the United States next week, meeting with President Barack Obama and speaking before Congress. Modi is anticipated to address a number of important issues for India and the international community, including development, energy access, international finance, and climate change. A joint U.S.-India statement related to climate change and clean energy is expected.
On Friday, June 3, at 11:00 a.m. EDT, WRI will host a press call with distinguished panelists to reflect potential outcomes on energy and climate from next week’s Obama-Modi visit in the United States.
Speakers will reflect on Modi and Obama’s collaborative relationship a range of issues, what specific energy/climate-related announcements the two leaders could make during this visit and how Modi’s foreign policy ambitions relate to tackling climate change and the rapid adoption of renewable energy.
