STATEMENT: WRI Says D.C. Circuit Court Decision "Paves Way for States to Continue Work" on Clean Power Plan

This afternoon, the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals denied a request to stay the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Clean Power Plan. The Clean Power Plan sets the first ever federal limits on carbon pollution from power plants and encourages the development of cleaner energy alternatives.

Below is a statement from Kevin Kennedy, deputy director, U.S. Climate Program, World Resources Institute:

"Today’s decision from the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals to keep EPA’s Clean Power Plan on track during the coming months of litigation is a great first step in ensuring the Plan fulfills its promise to bring America into the clean energy future. This ruling paves the way for states to continue their work on Clean Power Plan implementation, giving them the chance to seize the ample economic opportunities available in a low carbon economy."
