RELEASE: Kevin Moss to Lead WRI’s Business Center
WASHINGTON (January 29, 2015)– The World Resources Institute announced that Kevin Moss will be the global director for its Business Center, which engages the private sector to advance corporate sustainability strategies worldwide. In this capacity, Moss will be a member of WRI’s global management team and will work with experts across the institute and its international offices.
“Kevin is well-known for his sharp and innovative mind on corporate sustainability,” said Dr. Andrew Steer, President & CEO, WRI. “Coming from the private sector, Kevin understands firsthand how to work with businesses to advance practical and profitable strategies and innovations. We are very excited to have Kevin’s leadership to expand our business activities and deliver new insights and real world solutions to meet today’s resource and economic challenges.”
Moss has held numerous leadership and management roles in the private sector, most recently as the head of the Net Good program at BT, one of the world’s leading providers of communications services and solutions, serving customers in more than 170 countries. Moss also has experience at Concert, MCI and BP. Moss served on HP’s External Global Citizenship Advisory board, the board of the Corporate Responsibility Officers Association and the American Red Cross Global Advisory Board. He was also a liaison delegate to WBCSD. In 2013, Moss was listed in Guardian Sustainable Business’ “30 Most Influential Sustainability Voices in America.”
Moss created and managed BT’s Net Good approach to environmental impact and climate change, part of the company’s commitment to use the power of communications to improve lives and help society live within the constraints of the planet’s resources. Moss has been an integral part of BT’s sustainability activities since 2007, with various roles in sustainability strategy, stakeholder engagement and sustainability reporting both in the UK and globally.
“With growing pressure on the world’s natural resources, businesses have an increasingly important role in finding solutions that will benefit the environment and their bottom lines,” said Moss. “WRI has an unparalleled reputation for high-quality and independent analysis, and is a trusted partner with many businesses. I am excited to lead WRI’s business activities and bring even deeper engagement with the private sector to advance the institute’s global sustainability goals.”
WRI’s Business Center mobilizes investment, action, and impact across WRI’s global priorities, including the GHG Protocol, forest management, and Aqueduct (water risk) to help companies advance sustainability throughout their supply chains. It also provides research and thought leadership to make the case for the next generation of corporate sustainability practices and to inform government policies that will incentivize them. At the core of the Business Center is WRI’s Corporate Consultative Group, a group of more than 40 companies that engage with WRI to better understand and respond to environment and development issues that affect the corporate community.
