Climate Change Video: The Time to Act is Now

Kudos to the Blog Action Day organizers for picking such a timely topic. There is no more urgent issue than climate change.

The climate science of the last few years suggests that climate change is happening faster than previously understood, and that impacts will be more severe than previously thought. The more we learn, the more we realize that we must act now.

And the next few months will be critical. In the United States, the House and Senate have, respectively, passed and are considering major legislation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In December, the world will convene in Copenhagen to consider a new global agreement to succeed the Kyoto Protocol, which expires in 2012.

WRI is working both internationally and in the United States to advance strong international agreements and legislation on climate change. This video shows some of our experts talking about their work—more information is available here and here.

Thanks to my colleagues Kathy Doucette and Maggie Barron for putting together the video!
