Developing countries in Asia face the same challenge from modern biotechnology that other regions, nations and societies do: How does one maximize the potential benefits of a technology as powerful and pervasive as this and at the same time ensure that effective measures and mechanisms are in place to avoid or minimize the risks posed by its application?
