Overview
The World Resources Institute (WRI) and the Meridian Institute (Meridian), drawing on a network of Millennium Ecosystem Assessment (MA) experts, are collaborating with members of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development’s Ecosystems Champions Group (ECG) to develop, road test, refine, apply, and publish a set of guidelines for conducting an “ecosystem services review” (ESR). An ESR consists of a set of analyses and tools enabling a company to systematically evaluate its dependence and impact on ecosystem services, identify its contribution and exposure to ecosystem service degradation, understand key trends in ecosystem degradation, and identify the resulting business risks and opportunities.
