WRI provides research and expert analysis to help countries work together toward climate solutions that are ambitious and based on mutual trust and confidence.
While good progress has been made in recent years on international efforts to combat climate change at conferences in Copenhagen, Cancun, and elsewhere, much needs to be done to solidify those gains and lay the groundwork for more ambitious global action. Real success in cooperation on the climate challenge will require robust international action that is ambitious, urgent, equitable, effective, and efficient.
WRI is working to ensure that sound rules are adopted in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) for transparency and accountability. At the same time, we are working within countries around the world to help civil society groups ensure their governments are on track to meet their goals and set even more ambitious ones.
