About Tara
Tara is an Associate for the Cliimate and Energy Program in India, and works out of Bangalore. She has experience in advocacy, policy analysis and grant making, and has worked extensively on advocating for practical and implementable buildings efficiency codes at the National and State level in India. She recently spent some time helping small NGOs in southern Tamil Nadu focus on fundraising and communication strategies. Prior to that, she spent a few years with Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation, where she ran the Buildings and Appliance Energy Efficiency portfolios. While at Shakti, Tara engaged with various national and international experts on Energy Efficiency standards, and worked through grantees and partners, and through Shakti’s offices, to support and influence the development of Appliance Standards and the Energy Conservation Building Code.
Tara has a Masters in Environmental Management from Yale University. While at Yale, she focused on Industrial Environmental Management, and Industrial Symbiosis, looking at how businesses and local communities can share resources and by-products to become better stewards of the environment. Prior to that, she received a Bachelor of Technology degree in Industrial Biotechnology, from Anna University, Chennai. She is fluent in Tamil, Hindi and English.
