About Ranping
Ranping Song is responsible for leading the development and implementation of strategy and the management approach for all non-city climate & energy related areas of work in WRI’s China Office. He provides leadership direction for the climate and business work assigned to his team, and oversees and manages internal and external relationships to ensure appropriate funding and staff resources are available and focused to support the objectives and projects within this work stream. Ranping also serves as the overall manager for GHG Protocol in China.

Ranping joined WRI’s in 2009 and served as an Associate and Program Manager for GHG Protocol in China. In this capacity, Ranping managed GHG Protocol’s effort in China, supported Chinese companies for the GHG Protocol Value Chain and Product Standards road testing, developed localized GHG Protocol standards & tools, conducted trainings and advised GHG management programs.
Prior to joining WRI, Ranping was the China Campaign Manager for The Climate Group in Beijing. There he worked to engage companies and government agencies to promote climate friendly products in order to reduce carbon footprint. Before then, he worked for the United Nations Development Group in New York. Ranping has a Master’s degree in Public Administration from New York University Wagner School of Public Service and a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Lanzhou University.
