Paul Mackie

Director of Media Relations

About Paul Mackie

Paul is WRI’s Director of Media Relations and helps develop relationships between journalists and the Institute’s large pool of environment experts. He helps facilitate media interviews and manages media communications, events, and outreach strategies.

He was a journalist for nearly 10 years, mostly in the St. Louis and Washington DC areas, and covered various beats, including sports, politics, government, criminal courts, music, entertainment, general features, and science and the environment.

Paul worked as a library assistant at WRI while obtaining his master’s degree in media studies and political science from Georgetown University between 1999-2001. He returned to the Institute in Summer 2004 as a media officer.

The musical comedy he has written with a fellow playwright was selected for the 2008 Capital Fringe Fest. While Paul has temporarily retired from his rock band The Sprogs, he enjoys writing and playing kids’ songs for his son Jackson and wife Rachel.
