Lyna Bélanger is the Regional Advisor and Coordinator for WRI in Central Africa. Based in Kinshasa, DRC, Ms. Bélanger coordinates projects in 6 countries within the Congo Basin - Gabon, Cameroon, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Central African Republic and Democratic Republic of Congo. These projects focus on the use of remote sensing and spatial information systems (GIS) to produce interactive forest atlases and related analysis - all designed to increase access to forest information and enhance sustainable forest management in the Congo Basin. Ms. Bélanger previously worked with WRI from 2006-2008 in the DRC, providing technical support for the DRC’s forest title conversion process.

Ms. Bélanger has nearly 20 years of experience, including 12 years working in the Central Africa region. A graduate of the University of Laval in Québec, Canada, she is a trained forest engineer with expertise in project management and implementation, training and capacity building, business development, GIS, and remote sensing.
