About Lauren
Lauren Withey is a Management Associate in the Office of the Managing Director. She helps WRI to monitor and measure progress toward its mission. Lauren previously worked with WRI’s Climate and Energy Program, examining the role of the private sector in helping society adapt to climate change. She also served as the researcher for the World Resources Report 2008, where she analyzed methods for improving livelihoods for the rural poor through small, nature-based enterprises.
Ms. Withey grew up on the coast of Maine. She learned there to appreciate clean air and water, as well as the ground-level and policy challenges to achieving sustainable development.
Prior to joining WRI, Ms. Withey developed a passion for the Andes and working with small, sustainable enterprises during her time as a market researcher with TechnoServe, Inc. in Peru.
She enjoys exploring on foot, running, reading, making music, and taking photos.
Lauren holds a joint degree in International Relations and Environmental Studies from Bowdoin College.
