Karen joined EMBARQ as Executive Assistant in May 2010. She has more than 10 years of nonprofit experience in office administration and research positions.

Karen worked most recently as assistant to the Vice President of Institutional Research at Northern Virginia Community College. Prior to that, she worked as Executive Assistant to the Research Director at the Water Environment Research Foundation. In addition to her work in office administration, she has held climate-related research internships at the USGS, NASA, and the Smithsonian Institution.

Karen’s other professional interests include organizational dynamics and management, sustainable living, and ecological design. She is also pursuing an undergraduate degree in landscape architecture. Some of her hobbies include fossil hunting, geology, gardening, tennis, and horseback riding.
