Jonathan Adams is the Project Manager for WRI’s ChinaFAQs network. In this role, he guides development of the ChinaFAQs website, liaises with network members and directs research into China’s climate and energy policy. Jon was previously the Washington Projects Director of the Asia Society Center for U.S.-China Relations’ Initiative for U.S.-Cooperation on Energy and Climate Change. Mr. Adams was the Assistant Director with the Initiative during the development, writing and publication of Collective Challenge, Collaborative Response, A Roadmap for U.S. Cooperation on Energy and Climate Change. Mr. Adams was the Deputy Director of the Institute for Sino-American International Dialogue at the University of Denver, where he developed policy-relevant research and programming on energy, water and environmental issues in the U.S. and China. Before moving to Denver Mr. Adams was the Asia Programs’ Assistant Director at the Atlantic Council of the United States in Washington D.C. At the Atlantic Council, Mr. Adams organized programs, research and publications on a range of issues relevant for U.S. policy in Asia including U.S.-China relations, cross-Strait relations, energy security and non-traditional security issues.

Mr. Adams joined the Atlantic Council in February 2004 while a Masters Degree candidate in Asian Studies at the George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs. In his graduate work, Mr. Adams’ primary research areas included the regional dynamics and politics of Northeast Asia, Sino-U.S. relations and cross-Strait relations. From 1998 to 1999 Mr. Adams was an English instructor in Puli, Taiwan. Mr. Adams received a BA in Asian Studies from Lewis and Clark College. Mr. Adams is also an Associate with the Consortium for Capacity Building at the University of Colorado, Boulder, a member of the Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia Pacific (CSCAP) and the National Committee for U.S.-China Relations.
