Hilary McMahon is a Senior Associate with WRI’s international climate policy team.

She has a Bachelor’s degree in Politics and French from University College Dublin, a Masters degree in European Political and Administrative Studies from the College of Europe, Brugges and an Erasmus in Political Science specializing in Chinese politics from the University of Lausanne. She came to WRI from the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, where she worked on capacity building for member companies on energy and climate issues. She has also worked at the Institute of European Affairs, the Institute for International Integration Studies and in the industry group UNIFE in Brussels, Belgium.

She leads WRI’s work in a range of areas including international climate architecture and the United Nations negotiations on climate change, the intersection between climate and development policy and mitigation in developing countries, such as China.
