Fairuz is the Circular Economy and Energy Efficiency Manager at WRI Mexico. She is responsible for collaborating in the development of projects and studies on energy efficiency, circular economy and plastics waste management, as well as coordinating the activities of the Building Efficiency Accelerator (BEA) of the UN Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) global initiative.

Before joining WRI, she served as Technical Advisor in the energy efficiency component of the Sustainable Energy Program of the German Cooperation for Sustainable Development (GIZ) in Mexico. She has been a lecturer at Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City and Research Associate at the Yale Center for Business and the Environment (CBEY) and at the Center for Industrial Ecology (CIE) at Yale University. In 2018 she was selected to participate in the UNLEASH Global Innovation Lab for the SDGs program in Singapore and in 2015 she was an EDF Climate Corps Fellow at the company Legrand North America. She attended the COP21 climate change conference as member of the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) delegation in Paris, France. From 2010 to 2014 she worked as Advisor to the Undersecretary of Electricity at Mexico’s Secretariat of Energy.

Fairuz graduated with honors from Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City with a bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics and Production Engineering and she holds a Master of Environmental Management degree with specialization in Energy and the Environment from the Yale School of the Environment (YSE, former F&ES), Yale University.

She enjoys reading, hiking and acting in musical comedies in her free time.
