The World Resources Institute and the Heinrich Böll Stiftung North America are hosting this reception that will present new ideas on international financing mechanisms for renewable energy in Asia.

While the clean energy transition is underway in Asia, ambitious renewable energy policies need to be affordable for developing countries, which also face daunting social and economic development challenges. Donors have a role to play in leveraging climate finance to help countries invest in renewable energy and inclusive growth. Short remarks from our speakers will focus on the role smart energy policy, including generation-based incentives such as feed-in-tariffs, can play in mobilizing renewable energy investments in developing countries. They will also discuss opportunities for the international community to support these policies with climate finance. We hope this reception provides an opportunity for networking and informal discussion among thought leaders on renewable energy, climate-compatible development and climate finance.
