MEDIA ADVISORY: EMBARQ Transport Expert Joins Brookings Panel on Bus Rapid Transit in Latin America

On Tuesday, March 8, the Latin American Initiative at the Brookings Institution will host a panel discussion on lessons learned from Latin America and the applicability of bus rapid transit (BRT) in the United States.

Dario Hidalgo, director of research and practice at EMBARQ, WRI’s Center for Sustainable Transport, will be one of the panelists. You can read a recent New York Times article about lessons from BRT in developing countries: here.

Other panelists include Marc Elrich, councilmember of Montgomery County, Maryland; Sam Zimmerman, urban transport adviser at the World Bank; and Robert Puentes, senior fellow in the Metropolitan Policy Program at Brookings. Mauricio Cárdenas, senior fellow and director of the Latin America Initiative, will moderate the discussion.

After the program, panelists will take audience questions.
