Enhancing the climate resilience of vulnerable communities and the adaptive capacities of institutions in India to support development progress despite climate change.
Climate change will have devastating effects on India’s rural and urban poor, and assisting vulnerable populations to adapt to these changes will be critical. Together with Indian partners, WRI is developing practical tools and solid analysis to support increasingly effective integration of adaptation into development initiatives in Indian cities and rural communities.
Adaptation requires decision makers to think about their work in new ways. They require new information and analytic tools in order to understand how climate change may affect their development objectives, and which adaptation practices work best in a variety of contexts. Fortunately, India has a growing body of experience to draw upon that WRI seeks to support and further develop.
