Corporate Purchases of Forest Products: A New Green Frontier

The World Resources Institute (WRI) and World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) will hold a press briefing and question-and-answer session on the latest corporate efforts to improve purchasing procedures for products originating from the world’s environmentally sensitive forests.

Guide to the GuidesGuide to the GuidesModerator:

Jonathan Lash [0], President, World Resource Institute

Panelists:

Bruce Cabarle [1], Managing Director, Global Forest Program and Interim Head of the Global Forest and Trade Network, World Wide Fund for Nature - International

James Griffiths [2], Director, Sustainable Forest Products Industry, Ecosystems Focus Area, World Business Council for Sustainable Development

Lars Laestadius [2], Senior Associate, World Resources Institute

Cassie Phillips [3], Vice President of Sustainable Forests and Products, Weyerhaeuser Company

David J. Refkin [4], Director of Sustainable Development, Time Inc.

Countless resources have been developed to help businesses procure forest-based products such as construction materials and paper. This proliferation is confusing many corporate buyers. Today, WRI and WBCSD release a toolbox - two reports, help resources, a spreadsheet tool, and a new Web site - that will help corporations protect the Earth and improve people’s lives.

Continental breakfast to be served

Please RSVP to Mrs. Oretta Tarkhani at oretta@wri.org [4] no later than Monday, March 31, 2008.
