The World Resources Institute has an opening for an intern in its Climate & Energy Program (CEP). The position will support staff in working on U.S. Climate Policy, International Climate Policy, and China FAQs. This position will play a key role developing material for translation into Chinese about U.S. climate legislation and energy policy, state policies, and other relevant issues.
The successful candidate will play a key research and writing role and therefore must demonstrate excellent analytical and communication skills. A broad understanding of U.S. legislative processes as well as energy and climate policy will be necessary. The candidate will work with the project manager to write, edit, and conduct research and analysis to develop material for translation.
Responsibilities
- Draft concise summaries of U.S. climate legislation and energy policy with direction from the project manager. Contribute to background documents and other publications on a variety of climate and energy issues.
- Work to collect and analyze research material and compile information from a variety of sources.
- Contribute to the China Information Network web site and outreach efforts as required.
- Contribute to communications materials, organizing briefings and other outreach as necessary.
Qualifications
- Excellent writing skills and ability to present complex information clearly and concisely. Candidates with experience writing for publication and web sites preferred. Experience editing for print or online publications a plus.
- Undergraduate degree or major in international relations, environmental policy, political science, public policy, or related field.
- Solid computer and internet research skills, and advanced knowledge of MS Office. Graphic or web design abilities a plus.
- Results-focused, well organized, and comfortable working independently within a collaborative research team and against tight deadlines.

Salary & Benefits
Salary is $10 - $14 per hour, depending on experience.
