On March 22, the Building Efficiency Accelerator will launch its East Asia activities. Speakers from government, non-profit and the private sectors will showcase the building efficiency work of cities in China, Malaysia and Mongolia.

Next week, Beijing will host China’s largest annual green building conference, the Thirteenth International Conference on Green and Energy-Efficient Building & New Technologies and Products Expo.  By 2025, China aims to move 250 million people into cities while also meeting government targets for building energy use and related carbon pollution. IFC estimates the investment potential in construction of new green buildings in China is US $12.9 trillion by 2030.

At a side event on March 22, the Building Efficiency Accelerator will launch its East Asia activities. Speakers from government, non-profit and the private sectors will showcase the building efficiency work of cities in China, Malaysia and Mongolia.

Cities will share experiences and best practices in promoting building sector energy efficiency, followed by an interactive session to map views on building efficiency topics across stakeholders.

The Building Efficiency Accelerator (BEA) is a public-private collaboration that turns global expertise into action to accelerate local government implementation of building efficiency policies and programs around the world. One of six energy efficiency accelerators within the Sustainable Energy For All (SEforALL) Initiative, the Building Efficiency Accelerator assists sub-national governments in speeding up the adoption of best-practice policies and implementation of building efficiency projects.
