This session will include a presentation and panel discussion and will cover and solicit feedback on the tools being developed by the Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT) as well as opportunities being explored for cross-sector and between-country collaboration to improve monitoring, verification, and reporting. WRI is one of three implementing partners for the initiative.

The panel will feature participating countries and discuss cross-sector collaboration within and between our country partners to build MRV capacity. As monitoring, reporting, and verification are increasingly relevant activities thanks to country NDCs, we expect a strong turn-out at this event.

The initiative is building a suite of tools under which countries can effectively measure, report, and verify the impacts of their climate policies and actions. This common framework of tools allows countries to compare their results with others using the same tools and to more readily fulfil domestic and UNFCCC reporting needs. ICAT is also working to improve in-country MRV systems and ensure sustained improvements of national administrative, legislative, and institutional transparency infrastructure by partnering with organisations and stakeholders across diverse networks, including the private sector, academia, and civil society.
