The Millennium Ecosystem Assessment (MA) is an international scientific appraisal that assessed the consequences of ecosystem change for human well-being. The study found that 60 percent of the world’s ecosystem services assessed have been degraded or are being used unsustainably. WRI is building on the Assessment to help public and private sector decision makers sustain the capacity of ecosystems to meet human needs.
