Mr. Harmon is Chairman of Caravel Management LLC, the investment manager of the Caravel Fund (International) Ltd., an emerging and frontier markets fund that was launched in 2004. Mr. Harmon is CIO of the Caravel Fund (International) Ltd.
In 2004, Mr. Harmon was elected Chairman of the Board of the World Resources Institute (WRI), a global policy and research institution.
Mr. Harmon served as the Chairman, President and CEO of the Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank) until June 1, 2001. Nominated to a four-year term by President Clinton, Mr. Harmon was confirmed by the U.S. Senate in June 1997. Ex-Im Bank is an independent U.S. government agency that finances the sales of U.S. goods and services to developing countries.
Prior to entering government service in 1997, Mr. Harmon was Chairman and CEO of the investment bank, Schroder Wertheim & Co. Prior to the joint venture with Schroders plc in 1986, Mr. Harmon was a partner of Wertheim & Co. and Chairman of the investment banking committee.
Mr. Harmon is a member of the Board of Directors of QEP Resources, Inc., a leading independent natural gas and oil exploration and production company focused in the Rocky Mountain and Midcontinent regions of the United States. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Center for Global Development and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Mr. Harmon is a Trustee Emeritus of Brown University and Barnard College.
Mr. Harmon received a B.A. in English Literature from Brown University and an MBA in Finance from Wharton Graduate School, University of Pennsylvania.
