Professor Chen Jining is the President at Tsinghua University. He was formerly chairman of the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering. His research areas include environmental systems analysis, water resources and environmental policy, integrated river basin planning and management, non-point sources pollution control, and sustainable cities. Professor Chen led many research projects in his area. In 2005, he won the First-Grade Huaxia Science-Tech Prize awarded by the Ministry of Construction for his distinguished work. Professor Chen also serves as a Specialist Member of the International Task Force in Forecasting Environmental Change and Director of the Environmental Technology Branch of the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences.
